Volunteer Citizens are wanted to join Community Emergency Response Team to help in a crisis.
Progress to Goal of 500 : 152 newly trained as of 03/28/25
A goal has been set to have 500 individuals CERT certified in East Idaho by June 2026, the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Teton Dam flood disaster. There will be many activities planned as part of that commemoration.
We wish to identify and gather previously CERT certified community members in all of East Idaho and bring them together.
Watch the documentary film “Flood of Memories,” inspired by the many volunteers who helped with the recovery after the flood.
Please spread the word... we hope you can join us in this training effort!

PREPARING CITIZENS TO RESPOND in DISASTER
Each year, East Idaho may be rocked by severe weather, winter storms, floods or flash floods, or by man-made disasters. The damage caused by a disaster affects everyone. Disasters can severely restrict and overwhelm emergency response resources, communications, transportation, and utilities; and leave individuals and neighborhoods cut off from outside emergency support.
Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) are trained to take care of themselves and then help others in their communities for the first three days following a disaster.
The CERT program is a nationally recognized program (www.ready.gov/cert). CERT seeks to educate people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills.
Typically there are several free academies offered each year. To sign up email your contact information to cert@easternidahocert.org.
